PRESS ANNOUNCEMENT - JULY 6, 2011
Unique Theatrical Dance Experience Depicts Myths, Legends and Mysteries of Ancient Egypt, Babylon, Persia and Greece

Sterling, VA - Saturday, July 30, 2011 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Mosaique Language and Cultural Arts presents a cultural dance program entitled “Dances of 1001 Nights: Myths, Legends & Mysteries”. The event will feature culturally inspired interpretive dance and traditional dances enhanced with theatrical elements, including opulent costuming and story-telling choreography.

“Myths, Legends and Mysteries” is appropriate for all ages and backgrounds. Tickets are available online  or directly from any of the performers and members of Mosaique. Each adult ticket is $15 in advance, and $8 per child 10 and under. Any available seats at the door will be $20 per adult and $10 per child 10 and under.

The family-oriented program will take the audience on an imaginary journey to distant lands and across time, aiming to educate as well as entertain. Drawing from authentic cultural sources, the theatrical dance performances depict the beliefs and stories of Ancient Egypt, Babylon, Persia and Greece. The stories portray the human experience including the universal themes of love and longing.

Katayoun Hutson, founder of Mosaique Language and Cultural Arts, is an educator, seasoned dance instructor and professional performer. She is of Persian decent and has been teaching, performing and producing Middle Eastern dance performances in Northern Virginia since 2001. Katayoun said, “My goal is to present dance performances that are creative and innovative while honoring the cultural roots. My hope is that our audience, regardless of their background, will leave the theater enlightened and inspired.”

Katayoun’s past productions include charity dance benefits which supported the Loudoun Abused Women’s Shelter, Oxfam’s Tsunami Relief Fund, and most recently the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training.
