Class fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. Your place in class is confirmed when payment is received.  Some classes will fill early. Register in advance to secure your spot. Enjoy!

You may participate in classes in one of three ways:

  • Enroll in class(es) by registering for the full session (see schedule below)
  • Drop-in to individual classes without enrolling (dance classes only) for $20/class. Bring cash or check, payable to Mosaique LLC, to class.
  • Purchase a Member Pass for unlimited access to all classes (excluding workshops)

  • When you sign up for a class or workshop for the first time, the fee may include *membership. Once you are a member, you are eligible for the Member rate on all classes and workshops while your membership is current.
  • To enroll in classes, send email to katayoundance@hotmail.com or call 571-283-9494 to reserve your place. To confirm your place in class, print and complete the registration form and mail with check to Mosaïque LLC, PO Box 1232, Sterling, VA 20167-8415. If you wish to use Paypal, we will send you an invoice upon request.

Member Pass: This pass gives Mosaïque members unlimited access to all weekly classes, excluding workshops.  Available with membership only. *2010 Individual Membership: $30/6-mos or $50/1-yr.
Paid Monthly: $99/month.  Paid in Advance: $255/trimester (3 months)- Save $42! Add 3% to each payment if using Paypal.

 WORKSHOPS

Belly Dance Props Specialty Workshop! (Ages 13+. Suitable for all levels!)
Sunday March 21, 10:30am-12:30pm.
In this two-hour workshop, you will become introduced to the most popular belly dance props: veil, zills (finger cymbals), sword, assaya (cane), wings of Isis, tray of candles. Katayoun will share her unique approach to each prop, which incorporates culturally relevant concepts for authentic, respectful and creative Middle Eastern styling. PLUS, You will have an opportunity try out each prop, and get an overview of the concepts and skills vital to practicing and performing with them. Bring any of these props that you have or can borrow. A limited number will be available for use during class.

Intro to Egyptian & Persian Folklore Dance (All ages/abilities)
Sat. April 3, 11:00am-12:00pm. If you are new to belly dance, this is a perfect beginning to your journey!Recommended for absolute beginners and those who need a refresher of the basics. The roots of all popular belly dance styles and the inspiration for the Tribal phenomenon, folkloric dances are energetic, expressive and often tell stories.  Experienced dancers will recognize many belly dance movements as we dance in the regional styles of Egyptian folklore, such as Saidi, and compare with Persian flavors, such as Bandari!

WORKSHOPS

Intro to Persian Language & Culture
Date TBD. Join our mailing list on the home page to receive updates. Tentative Location: Claude Moore Comm. Center. Persian-speaking peoples include Iranians, Tajiks and Afghans, not to be confused with their Arab neighbors. The objective of this class is to introduce the flavor of the Persian language including lexical, cultural and geographic contexts, and to provide an opportunity for Q and A. Class will be geared for ages 14 to adult. $20/person, or $30 to include Membership: 6-mos Individual or 1-yr Student (ages 17 and under).

WEEKLY CLASSES

Introduction to Persian Language & Culture

French Story Time (ages 3-5) - offered through Loudoun County PRCS
Monthly (ongoing) Mon & Wed, 10:00am-11:00am. Children listen to engaging stories in the beautiful French language, learn everyday vocabulary, and participate in movement games and musical activities. Location: Claude Moore Comm. Intro to Middle Eastern Percussion & Rhythms(All ages/abilities)
Date TBD. Learn about the main percussion instruments and the most popular dance rhythms.  We will play doumbeks and finger cymbals.  A limited number of instruments will be provided for use during class.
$20/person, or $30 to include Membership: 6-mos Individual or 1-yr Student.

WEEKLY CLASSES

Middle Eastern Music Education - Please Note: Drop-in is NOT PERMITTED in music classes except on dates with guest instructors and only on space available basis.

Claude Moore Community Center. Class meets for 1 ½ hours every other Saturday, 11:00am-12:30pm.
Session 1, Regions & Styles: April 10, 24, and May 8 (Ages 17 +)

~POLICIES~

In order to provide quality and enjoyable programs for everyone, we follow standard guidelines and policies.

Minimum Enrollment: Instructor or director may cancel any class if minimum enrollment of five students is not met at least five days prior to session start date.

Make-up Classes: For missed classes due to illness or injury, instructor or director may offer make-up classes at her discretion.  If offered, classes must be made up in the same session as missed classes.

Students are expected to:

~Arrive to class on time. Late arrival disrupts the flow and concentration of the class.

~Come to class prepared with any props or materials as advised by the instructor. If you have a problem acquiring the necessary materials, speak to the instructor as soon as the issue arises.

~Respect the educational environment and behave accordingly. Instructors reserve the right to remove any student or observer at their discretion who disrupts the enjoyable and safe learning environment, in which case no monies will be refunded or credited
